Greetings from India
Dear Friends and Family of the Watumull Childrens Fund,
We send you greetings from all our Indian community! We just got back from a whirlwind 6-day tour of WFCF’s work in India!
We first stopped in Mumbai to revisit our tutoring center in Mankhurd slums. There was a banner and balloons, and we had time to visit individually with the children as well as sing with them!
Next stop was Calcutta. The children were as excited as we were to meet! We spent the evening with them and visited their homes right next to the railroad tracks.
Here is Scot talking to the whole group. WFCF is sending about half of these children to a nearby English-speaking school, to help accelerate their language acquisition.
The next stop was Nagpur, in the center of the Country of India. It is here that WFCF had bought land in 2020. And thanks to the generosity of my mother, Indru Watumull, we have built The Watumull Learning Centre in honor of my wonderful father, Mr. Gulab Watumull.
Here is the new dining area on the first floor where we served the children chicken curry and rice! Our first dinner at the Watumull Centre!
The next night we had a Grand Opening, inviting two hundred of the community! Lots of singing, laughter, good spicy food, a ribbon cutting, and children running everywhere!!!
We still are in the midst of furnishing the inside, but we are so grateful for your support, prayers, and good wishes. This building will serve children for years and years to come!
XOXO,
SCOT + CHITRA
