ABOUT US

Who We Are

Watumull Children’s Education is a young organization, though it has been a vivid dream of its founder for many, many years.

Our mission is to help needy children by providing resources to their schools, offering them an education that can break the cycle of poverty in their lives.

Our Founder

CHITRA WATUMULL WRIGHT

Chitra Watumull Wright is a certified teacher with 30+ years of experience in public and private schools in the United States. As a teacher, Chitra regularly witnessed the transforming power of education in every student she has had the privilege to work with.

Chitra has traveled to both India and Africa, encountering children who have no access to schooling simply because of their family’s poverty. She wants to right the injustice that prevents any young child from reaching his or her full potential. No child should be deprived of an education simply because of a lack of funds. She has started Watumull Children’s Education for that very reason.

THE WATUMULL FAMILY

Chitra considers herself very blessed to be part of the Watumull family. Her parents, Gulab and Indru Watumull were born and raised in India. They have a long history of philanthropy, contributing to the arts in their community and providing college scholarships to students in need.

Gulab and Indru’s generosity inspired Chitra to start her own non-profit corporation that could create educational opportunities for children everywhere. Chitra hopes to continue the Watumull legacy of making the world a better place by supporting children in poverty and their schools.

Board Members

We have an amazing Board of Directors. They are a diverse group of professionals that represent every age group and many different ethnicities.

We do not currently have any executive or administrative staff under employment at this time. However, we do employ contractors such as a bookkeeper and maintenance workers on an as-needed basis in order to achieve our mission.
